Easter Egg Hunt

Children are invited to attend the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Bring your basket and come enjoy activities in the Fellowship Center along with age appropriate egg hunts around the grounds. Snacks will be provided.
Congregation memebers are asked to help out with this event. Please contact Carolyn Kimball or be at the church by 9:00 AM to help set up.

We hope each Advent member will pray for the Holy Spirit to lead them to someone to invite to church om May 5th. Jesus Christ said,"The harvest is truly plenteous but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore to the Lord of the harvest that He will send forth labourers into His harvest." Matt. 9:37-38.
Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be a one-day event. Theme this year is "Who is my Neighbor?"
Ginger Haynes has posted sign-up sheets for Teachers, helpers and staff. Please include your name where you want to help. Do not assume that she already knows. The sheet still has pleanty of opportunity spaces to be filled.
Please pray for this upcoming event.

  • Blanket Drive for Sunnyside Ministries
    The fellowship Class is sponsoring a Christmas Blanket Drive for Sunnyside Ministry.
    Please give a warm blanket to a friend in need. New blankets as well as gently worn but clean can be used. Blankets are always in demand and quickly given out.
    We also are collecting toothbrushes and toothpaste.
    We will keep this drive on-going during the winter months. Please drop off your donations in the Fellowship Center, Parlor or give to a class member.

  • Advent's 95th Anniversary Homecoming Celcbration
    Come share in the fun!
    1. Mark your calendars for June 23, 2019 when Advent will celebrate 95 years as a Moravian Church. We hope ever member, former member and their families will attend this anniversary and homecoming.
    2. The 95th anniversary committee wants you to share your memories of Advent.

      Please write down your favorite memories and give them to Charles Krites or Bob Snyder. These memories will be shared at the anniversary and homecoming celebration.
    3. Deadline for inclusion in the memories information is June 1, 2019.
    4. We need the names of everyone who has served as an acoluth at Advent along with the dates served. Please give them to Bob Snyder.
    5. If you have pictures of Advent or your family that you want to share on Anniversary Sunday, we need the pictures by June 1. We will copy your pictures and return the originals to you. Give your pictures to any member of the Anniversary Committee.
    6. Members of the anniversary and homecoming committee are Jean Gardin, Sandra Scott, Andie Carpenter, Carol Long, Ora Mae Gibson, Peggy Sumner, Charles Krites, and Bob Snyder.
    7. Sunday, April 28th at 9am we will continue to share in the past,
      to prepare for Advent's 95th Anniversary Homecoming celebration in June. Please join us in the Fellowship Center for coffee, punch and snacks before Sunday School.

      There will be a matching game (Match minister photos with their years at Advent. Matching by memory only.) and the winners will be eligible to receive a small book of church history photos.

Sunday School

Jesus's Way is our way at Advent.

We have Sunday School classes for all ages. Sunday School starts with an opening service in the Sunday School Sanctuary followed by Sunday School class sessions.
Opening session is consists of announcements, prayer concerns, birthday and anniversary acknowledgements so class time can be longer. Classes should now start a little before 10:00 AM
Not attending Sunday School we welcome you to start attending one of our excellent classes. We have classes for all ages. Speak to Jamie Pugh for assistance in picking a class or Contact the Sunday School opening leader to be directed to a Sunday School Classroom.

Youth Fellowship
The elementary kids will meet in the Youth Center from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. This group will now be called Kids Club. Jennifer Cox and Emily Yarbrough will be the leaders for this group.
The 8th grade-young adults will still meet from 5:30-7pm in the Youth Center.

Senior Friends
First Tuesday
Regular meeting is at noon on the first Tuesday of each month. Meet in the Fellowship Center for a delicious pot-luck luncheon.
Everyone 55 and older is cordially invited to join our fellowship of fun, good food, spiritual growth and participate in our outings and activities.
