The 95th anniversary of Advent (1924 - 2019) is approaching quickly. We encourage every member to invite family, friends and former members to this celebration.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be a one-day event. Theme this year is "Who is my Neighbor?"
Ginger Haynes has posted sign-up sheets for Teachers, helpers and staff. Please include your name where you want to help. Do not assume that she already knows. The sheet still has plenty of opportunity spaces to be filled.

  • Battered Women's Shelter Donations
    The Board of Elders are asking for donations of personal items for the Battered Women’s Shelter of Eliza’s Helping Hands ministry. We will be collecting them until May 26th. The women can use deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap.
    There will be a box near the mailboxes to put these items in - a big glue box.

  • Sunnyside Ministries Donations
    The Fellowship Class and Advent Church continues their support for Sunnyside Ministry.
    During the summer months we will be collecting bar soap, all toiletries, (New) packs of men's, women's and children's socks, tennis shoes, sandals, and new or good condition lightweight summer clothing. Also a much needed food item is canned meat, such as tuna, chicken, ham, potted meat, beef stew, salmon and pasta with meat or soup with meat.

    There are 2 large plastic containers in the Fellowship Center to place your donations. If the building is locked you can put them in the parlor where the Fellowship class meets.
    Thanks to everyone for sharing what you have been blessed with to others less fortunate.

  • Advent's 95th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration
    Come share in the fun!
    1. Mark your calendars for June 23, 2019 when Advent will celebrate 95 years as a Moravian Church. We hope ever member, former member and their families will attend this anniversary and homecoming.
    2. The 95th anniversary committee wants you to share your memories of Advent.

      Please write down your favorite memories and give them to Charles Krites or Bob Snyder. These memories will be shared at the anniversary and homecoming celebration.
    3. Deadline for inclusion in the memories information is June 1, 2019.
    4. We need the names of everyone who has served as an acoluth at Advent along with the dates served. Please give them to Bob Snyder.
    5. If you have pictures of Advent or your family that you want to share on Anniversary Sunday, we need the pictures by June 1. We will copy your pictures and return the originals to you. Give your pictures to any member of the Anniversary Committee.
    6. Members of the anniversary and homecoming committee are Jean Gardin, Sandra Scott, Andie Carpenter, Carol Long, Ora Mae Gibson, Peggy Sumner, Charles Krites, and Bob Snyder.

Sunday School

Jesus's Way is our way at Advent.

We have Sunday School classes for all ages. Sunday School starts with an opening service in the Sunday School Sanctuary followed by Sunday School class sessions.
Opening session is consists of announcements, prayer concerns, birthday and anniversary acknowledgements so class time can be longer. Classes should now start a little before 10:00 AM
Not attending Sunday School we welcome you to start attending one of our excellent classes. We have classes for all ages. Speak to Jamie Pugh for assistance in picking a class or Contact the Sunday School opening leader to be directed to a Sunday School Classroom.
